  • cACHEMIRE

Cachemire is a raw material synonymous with luxury and comfort.

It’s a natural fiber very valuable that is obtained exclusively from the combing of the goat Hircus laniger, whose habitat is characterized by strong changes in temperature between day and night favoring the development of the finest and finest hair said duvet.

ICOMAS PRIORITISES FIBRE SOURCING FROM MONGOLIA WHICH GUARANTEES THE HIGHEST QUALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY IN HARVESTING AND PRODUCTION. The extraordinary properties such as lightness, softness and ability to repair from the cold as well as a natural insulating power (10 times more than that of wool) make this raw material extremely comfortable when used in knitwear. Fibers are very versatile and can easily create thicker or thinner threads and more or less heavy fabrics suitable for any climate. Production of cashmere involves five main steps:

    • harvest

    • sorting/splitting/separation and washing: coarse hair is removed by hand, and the fibre is washed to remove dirt.

    • de-giarration: the fibre is checked again to remove the coarsest hair remaining (giarre).

    • spinning - weaving or knitting.

The yarn we use is therefore obtained using a particularly valuable raw material of guaranteed origin. It is processed through sustainable and certified production processes. The result is a very high final quality of our product. We always use a double twisted thread 2/26 worked with two or four garments for a mesh with a regular beating and a surprising softness.

  • CAMEL HAIR

Camel hair is one of the finest fibres. compared to virgin wool, camel hair is softer and more enveloping, absorbs more moisture and is cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

The wool is obtained from camels combing the animal between late spring and early summer, that is, during the period when it naturally loses its hair. contrary to what one may think, the animal is not sheared.

The falling hairs are strictly hand-picked, according to tradition. each camel delivers about 7/900 grams of product in one year, which contributes to making this wool rare and very expensive.

Camel wool has thermal qualities superior to those of sheep’s wool; it is elastic and very breathable and has a great capacity to absorb body moisture. it is light and soft and helps to keep the body temperature constant. it helps against overheating and is hypoallergenic.

The thermostatic properties of its hair enable the camel to protect himself from the cold, snow storms in the high mountains and the arid heat of the desert. it is also water-repellent, an absolutely natural quality that distinguishes it from all other animal fibres.

With yamal (name of a peninsula north of siberia) yarn 100x100 camel in a unique way are produced our heaviest garments worked on the fineness 3.

With baby samarkand (name of stone town in uzbekistan) yarn 100x100 camel with 2 twisted threads is produced all the basic series camel made on fineness 7 with 11 different colors not always available because of the difficulty in finding the raw material.

Icomas produces a quota number of knitwear pieces in 100% camel per year, for this reason each shirt is numbered on the inner label.

  • MERINOS WOOL 120’S

    FINENESS 18 SERIES

It’s a combed yarn of pure virgin wool extremely close to the micronization of cashmere.

this very fine yarn is the result of a combination of the most modern spinning technology and the best wool from extremely fine and long yarns, rigorously selected. valuable peculiarities of the wool we use are the high hygroscopicity and breathability and the exceptional natural comfort.

These come from merino sheep, raised in australia and new zealand according to precise eco-sustainable quality standards while respecting animals by promoting biodiversity and free grazing by applying higher levels of animal welfare for wool production. in fact, we have available certificates for mulesing-free wool ( nm ) and all the certificates of traceability of the wool we use.

The classification in "super" (=’s) indicates the fineness of the fibres, that is, their average diameter. plus the "super" number is large, the fibre is fine. the combed wools used by us come from historical italian producers who work and treat them following a centuries-old tradition using cutting-edge technologies that guarantee the highest quality of the raw material.

A limited number of models and colours are included in this product series. this is justified by the exclusivity of the product offered on particularly expensive and rare machinery which makes its production difficult and complex. our series is double-spun with 1kg cones in which the beauty of 60km of thread for each rock is wrapped.

The v-neck and/or pull base is then produced using over 11km of wire! parramatta aims at an exclusive market with a competitive price and a supply chain strictly controlled by animal welfare to the production process.

  • YAK

Yak is a mammoth bovine animal (adult males weigh 800 kg) with an exuberant mantle, adapted to survive the harsh climates of the high mountain up to 6,000 metres above sea level between mongolia, the tibetan plateau, pamir and the slopes of the himalayas. yak specimens that reside at high altitudes develop a very thick skin, so long that they often touch the ground. their coat is characterized by long hairs on the back and a thick and soft down below. the yaks are protected, guarded and considered sacred by the indigenous peoples.

At the end of the harsh winters the yaks are subjected to the annual combing of the mantle: each adult yak produces on average less than 1 kg of undercoat per year, while from the young are obtained a few hundred grams. the shepherds also recover the hair naturally lost or entangled in the bushes.

The value, the absolute value of the fiber and the way the hair is collected, which do not cause harm or torment to the yak, have enthused us and have led us to combine yak with our knitwear collection. the yak staple comes directly from the places of origin, more precisely from far away mongolia, and is spun carefully in italy.

An exclusive product for intrinsic content and environmental sustainability. a unicum that does not provide for animal husbandry with all that this entails in terms of respect for the animal and the consequent lack of possibility of industrial production.

You work the staple when there is and if there is. productions are quota and limited. the quality, also due to the naturalness of the production chain, is very high and in some ways higher than cashmere.

A niche product with exceptional characteristics intended for a few connoisseurs, for whom parramatta undertakes to produce a limited number of pieces.

  • LAMBSWOOL

Our lambswool is made in england by z. hinchliffe & sons. a historic company founded in 1766 and has always specialized in the production of high-end yarns, offering them with unique colors thanks to a technique of processing as refined as ancient.

Merinos have been specially bred to produce the softest and finest wool obtained exclusively from the first shearing of the animal. lamb’s wool can be recycled, is compostable and biodegradable, therefore it does not produce harmful effects on the environment. For quality reasons, all fibres are dyed before they enter the spinning process so that they can be more gentle on the fibre and the finished product will be softer.

After dyeing the bales reach the carders. during carding the fibres are aligned as they pass over a multitude of meticulously wired and recorded rollers. all reels produced from carding enter the spinning department by passing on modern wedges which allow a rounder yarn to be obtained which avoids damaging the fibres and preserves the soft hand. After spinning, the wire passes on small turns and must be wound on larger cones and freed from any imperfections. Once this process is completed, the yarn is intended to be twisted in the twisting department. quality control in the production process checks the colour fastness, yarn uniformity, yarn strength, titer changes and colour variation. Our articles in lambswool in fineness 7 and 5 complete the offer of quality knitwear branded Parramatta.

  • LINEN

Linen: when nature is high tech.

Linen is a totally natural fiber, but its qualities have much in common with the latest technical materials, to the point that it could be described as naturally high tech. Linen is a must for summer garments for several reasons: the fiber itself has a microstructure that promotes thermal conduction and therefore the dissipation of body heat in favor of freshness. Moreover, linen is certainly a more resistant fabric than any silk or cotton.
    Flax: ecological by nature.
Linen is more resistant than other fabrics thanks to the length of the fibres and, if treated correctly, can not only last for decades but also improve over time because the initially rigid hand gradually decreases. It is free from problems of static electricity and pilling, is hypoallergenic, recyclable and biodegradable. Its cultivation is far more environmentally friendly than cotton.

Linen: a story as long as man.
Linen is produced from the linen plant (linum usitatissimum), the stem of which is rolled up to separate the fibres which are spun and ordered in different qualities of yarn for regular fineness and heaviness.
it was the first fiber used by man for fabrics making its appearance first in the mediterranean civilizations and, later, in the countries of northern europe.
A linen headdress dating from the neolithic period, dated around 6500 a.c. and coming from the cave of nahal hemar in israel, is one of the oldest extant artifacts in the world; while a linen shirt on display at the petrie museum of egyptian archaeology of the university college of london, made in 3000 a.c. was decreed as the oldest woven garment in the world.
During the centuries of the ancient roman empire, europeans used to wear linen tunics under their woolen robes.
For this reason the word 'linen' was associated with underwear. In fact, the french word "lingerie" comes from the french word linen, "lingin".

it is only in the 18th century that flax began to make way for the more economical fibre cotton, mainly thanks to the introduction of spinning machines and the large quantities of cotton available from north america. Linen inevitably becomes limited to real and court uses, however attributable to a limited and luxurious use.

Normandy and belgium were and are generally considered the privileged places for the cultivation of linen, while the best weaving and spinning were and are in italy.

  • COTTON

In 1820 mohammed ali pasha, founder of modern egypt, planted for the first time in egypt sea island and brazilian cotton seeds, enthusiastic about the fabrics produced overseas by these varieties of fibers.

The finest cotton in the world is thus born in egypt, from the combination of the best seeds in the world and the unparalleled climatic conditions of this country. Giza 45 plants are grown exclusively in a small area east of the delta of the great river and represent 0.4% of the total annual production of egyptian cotton.

Its long fibres (over 36 mm) are also extremely thin (2.95 micronaire) and have a high uniformity index of cross-section (88.5%). Despite its fineness, the resistance of giza 45 is still very high, averaging 44.30 grams/tex. For strength, cleanliness and regularity, the giza45 therefore boasts unique characteristics of excellence.

An ideal cotton for the production of very fine and resistant yarns and fabrics, with an extraordinarily soft and silky hand.

Icomas produces its cotton products with this cotton yarn which is the best of course obtainable in the world. The quality obtained by guaranteeing origin, proper cultivation and controlled processing. Thanks to these characteristics, the final product, as mentioned above, is characterized by the silky hand and the high general comfort.

Cotton products are made to a fine 14, 7 and 5 and free of harmful colouring agents.
